We are officially in the holiday season or, as we in the fitness industry refer to it “that time when people get really fat”. There is nothing you can do about it, you’re going to put on at least 10lbs and -5lbs of that weight will be muscle. Many people I know vow to “really watch what they eat this year!” I mock them to their faces. In the best possible scenario you would end up only gaining 5lbs and your refusal to have a second helping of Granny’s shortbread ginger cookies ala mode would spark a feud not seen since the days of the Hatfields and the McCoys. If anything, worrying about glacial expansion of your waistline will only release cortisol which will exacerbate the problem. So do what Franky says and relax, it’s only a few pounds and guess what? You’ve got us to whip you back into shape come January. Go ahead and eat the ginger bread house your kid made in school, you’ve trained hard for 11 months and you deserve a break… Just remember, when you come back, we own you.
