The Crossfit community tends to be faddish. Trends come and go, one day everybody’s doing it and the next the crickets are chirping while the zone diet talk is given at an L1 cert. Some may say Crossfitters are fickle, I prefer to think of us as constantly progressing. The stuff that works stick, the stuff that doesn’t falls by the wayside. Now, for your reading enjoyment, Hot or Not 2011!!!
Hot: Minimalist shoes – the protection of regular shoes with the comfort of an evening slipper!
Not: Vibram 5 fingers – they may work for some people but they look dumb on all people.
Hot: Tasmanian Devils – These dudes are crazy! And they bite through rocks for fun! Awesome!
Not: Honey Badgers – Everybody jumped on the Honey Badger band wagon, the badger sold out and truth be told, it was kind of a dick.
Hot: Modified Paleo – take what worked for our ancestors along with modern performance foods
Not: Strict Paleo – paleo zealots are becoming the zone zombies of 2007
Hot: Achilles tears – everybody is ripping theirs to shreds these days!
Not: Rotator Cuff tears – so last year
Hot: Bizarre neon outfits that don’t match – honestly, I have no idea why people like this.
Not: Tall stripy socks – I have no idea why these were popular in the first place.
Hot: Complaining about Crossfit selling out to Rebok – ?
Not: Complaining about Crossfit selling out to the Zone – ?
Hot: Power lifting
Not: Making fun of power lifting
Hot: Mariachi music
Not: Zydeco music
There you have it, all the trends that matter to Crossfit in 2011
